I
Should Have Had A V-8 Do you ever wonder when the next big innovation in sporting technology is going to strike? Well if you worked for Volkl Tennis, you would have had just such an opportunity with the introduction of their patented V-Engine framing technology. The big idea: The V-shaped throat bridge resists bending better than a traditional throat for increased power and stability. This produces a stiffer and stronger frame that is more torque resistant than conventional racquets. The V-Engine design also creates an increased sweet spot with its longer main strings. This also results in off center hits responding with greater power and directional control. We tested a Mid Plus sized Tour 8 V-Engine racquet with a 4 3/8" grip size. The first thing I noticed after a few shots was that Volkl's Sensor Tour Handle System really made a difference. It felt great and the shock absorbing gel really took the bite out of off hits. With a 100 square inch head and weighing in at an incredible 10.9 oz (with string), the Tour 8 V-Engine comes to play. Able to handle the fastest serves, this racquet performs well at both the baseline and the net. Control with the Mid Plus was phenomenal, slices had plenty of bite and topspin came easily. Overall, the Mid Plus Tour 8 V-Engine is a strong all-court racquet, but it really shines at the baseline; its speed and power really come in handy when you have a lot of green to cover. Shots reacted cleanly and predictably with plenty of pop. Bottom line is the Tour 8 V-Engine from Volkl Tennis
is the ideal racquet for both rookies and ringers. Beginners will love
the forgiveness; experienced players will love the power and control.
Volkl has undoubtedly raised the bar on racquet quality and construction.
Available in Mid Plus, for about one hundred and sixty dollars you can
pick one of these beauties up at any major sporting goods store or at
one of the retailers listed at www.Volkl.com.
