Your Palm Pilot Soar Every time I read the list of features on a Personal Digital Assistant, I always see claims like, "Surf the Web**" or "Send and Receive Email on the Go**". "Awesome," I'll think until I read the bottom of the page and discover that the asterisks stand for "If you find some magical way to connect this thing to the internet because it doesn't come with that capability," or something of the like. Wouldn't it be great if there were a simple, inexpensive way to connect a PDA to a wireless internet system so you could actually use the really cool features listed on the box? Well, wonder no more fellow Palm Prisoners, because SanDisk has you covered with their Secure Digital WiFi Card. SanDisk's SD WiFi Card allows almost any PDA with an SD port to connect remotely with an 802.11b wireless network. Kind of on the petite side, the SD WiFi Card is only 2.1" by 0.9" and .08 of an inch thick. But don't let its diminutive stature fool you, it packs plenty of power (about 13 dBm) to connect clearly and sports a range that easily matches that of its more power hungry brethren. Which brings us to its next advantage; SanDisk's SD WiFi Card only uses about 279 mA, roughly 16% less power than its nearest rival. That means less battery drain and more time surfing between recharges. The SanDisk SD WiFi Card is not Plug and Play, so you'll have to do some software installation. Don't panic, the process is relatively pain free. We tested ours with a Tapwave Zodiac running an enhanced Palm operating system, and after a simple download of the driver and a quick install of the Zodiac's browser, we were ready to pop the card into the SD port and go. Sure enough the SD WiFi Card's LED signaled that we were hot and away we went. Bottom line is if you are looking to take your PDA
to its full potential, then SanDisk's WiFi Card is the perfect solution.
Its sleek design, power efficiency and user-friendly installation make
it ideal for taking your PDA to the net. For about one hundred dollars,
you can pick up the SanDisk SD WiFi Card wherever PDAs are sold, or
online at www.SanDisk.com.
