A Rocket for my Pocket
J. Kevin Tumlinson

Laptops are so passe'.

Sure, they've come down in both size and price over the past ten years, but still you have to lug around about a pound or more of equipment. There are bags, power supplies, PCMCIA cards, and maybe an external drive or two. That's a lot of stuff to tote around, especially on short business flights!

The answer may be in the Palm device. These little handheld PC's have come a long way, baby, and they're only getting better. In just the past year, several handhelds have been released that could easily run circles around laptops of just two years ago. Computing power and functionality are both on the rise.

But that little onscreen keyboard has to go. And so does that graffiti garbage. Who has time to learn how to write all over again?

Enter the Palm Portable Keyboard. It's been around for a while, but surprisingly few people have come to use it. This tiny, collapsible keyboard unfolds from a unit rougly the same size as your Palm itself, and expands into a full sized, fully functional keyboard. It's the perfect size for carrying on commerical flights, taking into restraunts, or just toting along with you on a quick, unexpected trip. You need never be without a computer again!

Of course, that could have its downside, couldn't it?

Price is reasonable at just under $100. Be sure to look for the one specific to your Palm Pilot.

Get your Palm Portable Keyboard directly from Palm at www.palmone.com, or visit your local electronics dealer.

Oh, by the way, this review was written using my (now antiquated) Palm V and the Palm Portable Keyboard.
