All right you finally got your
Sony PlayStation Portable. The screen is bigger, graphics better, you've
watched SpiderMan II a few times; now it's time to accessorize. But which
add-ons do you really need? You could easily blow more than the cost of
the original unit on accessories and still not significantly improve the
gaming experience. Luckily for you, those selfless heroes at Intec have
dedicated their lives to solving this very problem. With the Pro Gamer's
Kit they've taken some of their most popular PSP accessories and bundled
them together in one handy package.
"What's so great about these particular accessories?" you ask.
Well, so did we; here's what we found
Ultimate Aluminum Case
You just dropped two hundred and fifty dollars on your new PSP, you open
the box and find out that there's no built in screen protector. Also,
you're supposed to entrust the safety of your very valuable, very fragile
electronic baby to a cheesy neoprene pouch. Not cool. Clam shell screen
covers are fine, but if you're looking for total protection, nothing beats
a case. And it might as well hold everything you need and look awesome.
That's where the Ultimate Aluminum Case from Intec comes in.
Constructed from ultra light, ultra strong aircraft aluminum, the Ultimate
Aluminum Case can take any punishment so your PSP doesn't have to. Once
open, it has plenty of storage and compartments for your PSP and several
key accessories. It also looks profusely tough.
Game Case
Let's face it, game cartridges and CDs have a pretty tough life, and the
PSP's UMDs are no exception. Even though they are covered in a clear plastic
shell, the read windows make them deceptively venerable to scratching.
That's why the Pro Gamer's Kit comes with Intec's Game Case, where four
UMD disks can travel safely with the exposed read windows of the disks
covered and protected when not in use. This is particularly handy if you
tend to casually toss games into a backpack, gear bag or briefcase.
Safe Strap
Just a little extra insurance if you ever accidentally drop or otherwise
fumble your PSP. The Safe Strap is also a pretty effective deterrent to
anyone thinking about dashing by you and picking your PSP from your hands.
Just attach it to the lanyard holder and wrap it around your wrist. Even
the secret service knows better than to untether themselves from the nuclear
codes same thing.
Car Adapter
There's nothing like the feeling of playing your PSP on the road only
to have the battery give out miles away from the nearest outlet (if you
even travel with your plug in charger). Luckily for you Intec has thought
to include their Car Adapter. Just plug your PSP into the power port (or
lighter, for all you old folks) and let the juice flow. Now it truly is
portable.
Safe Screen
We've already covered that the PSP needs some sort of screen cover to
protect the LCD from scratches. Intec's Safe Screen is a thin layer of
clear film that adheres to the display face and acts as a shield from
dust, debris and other harmful agents. Simple and effective.
Be warned though that you only get one shot when installing the Safe
Screen. If you mess up (leave a wrinkle, air bubble, trap a spec of dust
under the film, etc..) then removing it could prove problematic, or worse,
damage your screen. If you don't have a steady hand and access to a dust
free environment, then maybe you should wait a bit and find someone who's
done this sort of thing before.
Game Buds
No one wants to hear your freaky music or ambient game noises. Put in
some earphones. Unfortunately, the white set that come with the PSP do
look a little dorky. The Game Buds are an excellent alternative to their
pale brethren. With a contemporary black and silver look, you won't be
embarrassed to wear these outside the house. With comfortable ear bud
speakers and decent sound, these babies aren't just for show.
The Ultimate Aluminum Case, Game Case, Safe Strap, Car Adapter, Safe
Screen and Game Buds are must-haves for the PlayStation Portable. Bought
separately all these pieces will run you quite a few dollars (and well
worth it), but buying them together in the Pro Gamer's Kit will save you
a couple of bucks and a lot of shopping around. For about thirty dollars
you can pick one up wherever games are soldor one of the retailers listed
at www.IntecLink.com.
It's a really good deal any way you play it.
