A True Competitor

Feel Competitor 18 Degree Hybrid!
Feel Competitor 18 Degree Hybrid

Many golfers love the distance they get out of fairway woods over long irons, but they're so freaking hard to hit off of the ground. If only someone would combine the feel and power of a wood and the accuracy and forgiveness of an iron; and if it came out to be easy on the eyes then so much the better. Rejoice then brothers and sisters, for Feel Golf Company has you covered with their new Competitor 18 degree Hybrid club. The Competitor Hybrid takes the benefits of woods and lower irons and fuses them into one utility club with an added benefit. The big idea: a permanent weighted toe-heel design with fixed inserts coupled with a forty percent deeper shaft seat created one of the highest MOI profiles in the industry. Meaning no matter what your swing type, you can expect greatly improved accuracy and distance.

Sounds neat, but can it hit. Like Tyson. We tried the 18-degree Competitor Hybrid with Feel' proprietary Monterey regular flex graphite shaft and trademark Full Release grips were simply blown away. First, the balance on this club is exceptional; it swings easy with minimal power loss. The extreme low center of gravity does a great job of keeping the swing steady no matter what the hitting surface. And with the extra wide sole, you never lose loft even in the thickest rough. The feel at contact is also amazingly solid and tight.

This utility works nicely off the tee and from the bare turf. There is also noticeably less energy transfer into the ground, which means almost all of your power goes into the ball, where it should. If you have trouble hitting woods off the fairway, then this is definitely the club for you.

Feel's Competitor Hybrid will also help you with one of the most difficult aspects of the game to master… ball alignment. As any pro will tell you, if your ball alignment isn't right, your shot already has no chance before your swing has even begun. The unique yellow and black coloring of the clubhead at address does an amazing job of guiding your eyes so that proper (and improper) alignment is obvious. With the handy arrows and striking clubhead markings, you will never flub a shot due to poor address when using this club.

Also worth mentioning are Feel's Full Release Grips. The Full Release Grip uses Taper Tip Technology that allows the left hand portion of the grip to be carried loosely in the fingers due to the much smaller grip diameter in the left hand. The right hand also uses a more relaxed grip due to the Release's larger diameter at the bottom of the grip as compared with traditional grips. The grip fits comfortably and naturally in one's hands, thereby reducing the hand and wrist tension and increasing club control. They take a little getting use to, but after about two holes, you'll never want to use a traditional grip again.

The bottom line is that if you want a club that hits like a wood with the forgiveness of an iron, then Feel Golf's Competitor Hybrid belongs in your bag. It's a sure bet that once you hit one, you'll never go back to clumsy fairway woods again. It also makes a great gift for that special golfer in your life. For about one hundred seventy dollars, you can get one just about anywhere clubs are sold or online at www.FeelWedges.com.
