You'll
Pitch a Tent Over Eureka!'s Mountain Pass 4EXO
David A. Dodson Like to go camping, but don't know which end of the stake goes in the ground? Can't tell the difference between a rain fly and a bar fly? Then Eureka! Tents has the dome-home for you. The Mountain Pass 4EXO is the perfect idiot-proof shelter for you and three of your forest bound buddies. The secret is in the frame; four collapsible aluminum poles permanently connected to a central hub. Simply unfold, lock and stick 'em in the holes (they've even labeled the front of the hub for you). From there it's just a matter of hooking the tent shell to the frame with giant, snapping carabineers and staking it to the ground. The whole process takes about ten minutes without instructions. Besides being stupid-easy to pitch, the Mountain Pass 4EXO is super tight. With factory taped seams and a wrap-around bathtub floor, nothing leaks, sneaks, or seeps in. It also comes standard with patented High/Low ventilation and two large doors with vestibules for extra storage. Said vestibules also act as an air lock when closed and ventilation control when open. But enough reading from the side of the box, how does this bad boy sleep? High and dry. It'll keep out the rain, that's for sure, but we took it one step further with beach sand and sea salt in 25 mile-per-hour winds. The verdict? Not a single grain got in that wasn't stuck to someone's feet. On top of that, the tent went up easily even in the Gulf Coast gusts. Eureka!'s Mountain
Pass 4EXO is perfect for family camping. It easily sleeps four adults
with reasonable gear. It also breaks down so that the fly, poles and
tent body can be packed separately for group hiking. For about three-hundred
and change you can get one just about anywhere camping gear is sold
or online at these
locations.
